What a pip is worth

A pip is the standard smallest price move in a currency pair — 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for pairs quoted in Japanese yen. The monetary value of one pip depends on your position size and the currency your account is denominated in.

For a position quoted in your account currency, one pip on a standard lot (100,000 units) is worth about $10. When the quote currency differs from your account currency, the value is converted at the current exchange rate, which is why this calculator includes a conversion-rate field. Always confirm the exact figure with your broker.
